Funeral In Berlin Poster

"Funeral In Berlin" (1966) doesn't command the kind of prices that "The Ipcress File" (1965) does but this Michael Caine "Harry Palmer" Cold War thriller is aruably the best film in the trilogy ("Billion Dollar Brain" followed in 1967). This stylish poster design was by artist John Burningham. Although an occasional poster artist, most of Burningham's work was Children's book illustration. When the vogue for painted illustration was phased out in the early 90's, Burningham was one of the few such artists to successfully transfer over to the fine art world.

In excellent condition, this poster would retail at £250-300. Although the poster displays pretty well, it does have certain issues (hence the discounted price). Apart from pin-holes to corners/edge nicks etc, the poster has a 5" conservation repair to mid left horizontal fold-line & a 6" repair to tear from upper rhs. There are other small conservation repairs, slight paper loss to upper right rim & light surface marks. That being said, for a half-priced poster, this still presents very well.
