Greenham Common Air Tattoo Poster

Greenham Common 1981 International Air Tattoo poster (20"x 30") advertising the show 27th-28th June 1981 presenting a Westland Wessex helicopter in a dramatic rescue mission during the 1979 Fastnet Race.

Although most famous for its cruise missiles & the Women's Peace Camp, Greenham Common also played a pivotal role in the D-Day invasion 1944, General Eisenhower making his famous "The eyes of the world are upon you" speech to troops at the airbase prior to their attack. International Air Tattoos were held at the American run airfield intermittently between 1973-83.

The poster illustration is by Wilf Hardy (1938-2016). Wilf Hardy worked for various magazines/comics including "The Eagle", "Look & Learn", "Speed & Power" etc but was best known for his paintings of aircraft, this poster providing an excellent example of his craftsmanship.

The poster is rolled, with slight creasing to upper left edge but overall in very good condition.
