The Good The Bad and The Ugly Poster

Linen-backed UK Quad poster for "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" (1966) for the 3rd in the trilogy of Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns ("A Fistful of Dollars" 1964 & "For A Few Dollars More" 1965 being the others). These were the films that catapulted Clint Eastwood to global popularity & created a genre of films, a slew of copycat westerns emanating from Spain & Italy over the next decade. This is the 1st release poster (the re-release poster features a reduced artwork & colour palette with yellow background & an orange bottom rim).

Though distributed by United Artists, we have been unable to verify the poster artist here. The artwork, however, is based in part, on the design of the corresponding US 1-sheet poster. Although this was the last in the Clint spaghetti westerns & likely to have been more collectable than the first 2 posters in the series, "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly", is the most difficult of the 3 to track down. For an idea of relative value, at the time of listing, this poster was quoted at £1,500 by a gallery.

Although the poster has been linen-backed NO over-painting restoration has been done. There are pin-hole marks to corners/rim & various other light surface marks etc but the poster still displays perfectly well & is priced in accordance with condition.
