Bawdy Tales

A fascinating photo-mechanical print (13"x 20" approx) of a Vic Fair concept design for the Quad poster for the Italian erotic-comedy "Bawdy Tales" (1973).

Scripted by Pier Paolo Pasolini, the film recounted the tale of two condemned men who exchange bawdy reminiscenes while they await their execution. Vic Fair's concept depicts a scene of a joyous drunken orgy, participants "tastefully" clothed!

The Quad poster which we show for reference (illustrated by Michael Bennallack Hart) utilises one element from the Fair design (two of the figures under the table). Although a less common type of Fair design, the artist was fond of b/w pen & ink illustrations & we have other contemporary pieces which are silmilar in style (we include a "KP" snacks concept piece for comparison.

Print is rough cut & irregularly sized but would frame to great effect. This piece not only highlights Vic Fair's artistic versatility but also his iireverent humour too.
