        Gideon's Day Poster
UK Quad poster for "Gideon's Way" (1958) with artwork by John Stockle. The hurly-burly & twists & turns in a day in the life of a Scotland Yard detective, are brought to life here by artist John stockle. Directed by
John Ford, "Gideon's Day" was a light-hearted comedy drama, with Jack Hawkins playing the aforememtioned detective. The film also witnessed the big screen debut of
Anna Massey, whose next film was the brilliant but highly controversiual "Peeping Tom".
John Stockle specialised in cartoon/caricature type artwork though was also capable of producing more conventional painted illustrations too. He was fond of using black or dark backgrounds in his designs, something which is evident here. Nice to get a poster design which features a London drawn backdrop.
Poster has a small area of paper loss to lower left white rim, several other nicks etc to white rim/corners but the main body of the poster is in superb condition. Overall in
very good condition.
