Hobo With A Shotgun Poster

Rare UK Quad cinema poster for the Rutger Hauer horror black-comedy "Hobo With A Shotgun" (2011).

Originally conceived as a trailer for Tarantino's "Grindhouse" (2007) the concept was developed into a gory homage to the 1970's exploitation genre. The film had a limited release in US/Canada & an even more resticted release in the UK (it played in only eleven cinemas). Whilst the US 1-Sheet poster for this film can sometimes be found, the Quad poster is extremely rare.

Not only is this poster rare but it is blessed with some really interesting artwork too. The design eschews the modern predilection for photographic composition with a deliberately "retro" painted design by "The Dude Designs" (aka Thomas Hodge - see: https://thedudedesigns.com/hobo-with-a-shotgun/?v=7885444af42e). Interestingly, the artist also introduces apparent "wear & tear" into the design (the foldlines & most areas of paper loss to the rim are not real). This again harks back to actual 1970's cinema posters & emphasises the homage that is at play here. This particular technique of designing a poster to look weathered & used has echoes of the Drew Struzan/Charles White "Star Wars" Style-D 1-Sheet from 1978 & Vic Fair's UK Quad design for "How I Won The War" from 1967.

Poster unfolded, rolled, single-sided with repaired tears to upper left rim (4" - conservation tape) & upper right rim (5" - sellotape), plus general creasing etc. Although the poster has condition issues it still displays to good effect as shown. Poster priced in accordance with condition.
