Leicester Square PHOTO Poster

An original b/w silver print photograph (12"x 15") entitled "Leicester Square" by the London photographer John Bignell, the photo signed by Bignell & dated "1951" (printed later).

The photo shows a foggy Leicester Square, telephone boxes in the background with an accordion player adjacent & to the foreground, two men dancing, believed to be the music hall duo Wilson & Keppel (of the "Sand Dance" fame). Photo with the photographer's stamp to the reverse & mounted on black paper (15 3/4"x 19 1/2" overall). John Bignell was active during the 1950's-80's & principally a street photographer. A book of his photos entitled "Chelsea Photographer" was published in 1983.

This photo was acquired at the Sotheby's auction of Photographs, 2nd May 1997 & was part of Lot #487.
