Although now regarded as a "classic" film, "Shawshank" was initially a failure on release. In America the film took only $16 million in the first 10 weeks (vs a cost of $25 million). It was pulled & re-released in early 1995 but still struggled (competition with "Pulp Fiction" being one frequently quoted reason). The film suffered a similar experience in the UK, the cinematic release in Oct 1994 being quickly followed with the video release in May 1995. It was, however, once "Shawshank" went to video that interest revived in spectacular fashion, the film being one of the top rentals in 1995.

This double-sided promo item is clearly stamped "SAMPLE" to the "back" cover. An important piece of "Shawshank" memorabilia, being pivotal in the process of transforming the film from something lacklustre into a commercial & critical success! Item in excellent condition & would frame to great effect.
