What's Up Superdoc

The original finished Tom Chantrell painted artwork for the UK Quad cinema poster for "What's Up Superdoc!" (1978) framed(26"x 33 1/2" overall).

Chantrell employed all his skills to create a sexy tongue-in-cheek composition to entice punters to this low-budget British sex-comedy which was a sequel to "What's Up Nurse" (1977). Typical of the genre, the film starred some well-known British comedy actors (Christopher Mitchell, Harry H Corbett, Bill Pertwee etc ) alongside a bevy of beauties happy to disrobe on camera including Nicole Austin, Anna Bergman, Angela Grant & Mary Millington. Together with Sam Peffer, Chantrell pretty much cornered the market for this type of fare in the 1970's-early 80's. Among the back-catalogue of such artworks, "What's Up Superdoc!" stands among the very top tier together with "Come Play With Me", "What's Up Nurse" & "Playbirds". The front cover of the "bible" of British sex films "Keeping The British End Up" (2001) features the artwork of the slinky nurse on the right hand side of this poster (https://www.moviepostermem.com/Keeping-The-British-End-Up-Poster/62256). The artwork (21"x 27 1/2") is all painted (mostly gouache) with the text held in place by an acetate overlay. The artwork has been placed in a bevil-cut card mount & then affixed in a deep set frame with an acrylic face.
