Battle of the V1 Poster
Scarce linen-backed UK Quad cinema poster for the WWII film "Battle of the V1" (1958).
This poster is rarely available in the market & regarded as one of the key British WWII cinema posters. Like many films of this era, the footage was b/w though the poster advertising was in glorious technicolour. The poster shows an image of a V1 streaking across the London skyline & above previously "Blitzed" ruins.
The film recounts a tale of Hitler's dreaded flying bombs, the V1 (known as "doodlebugs"). Starting from June 1944, V1's were fired from the coast of northern Europe towards London & the SE. At the peak, over 100 V1's a day were fired & altogether 9,521 landed. Designed both to wreak destruction & terrify the civilian population, V1's were difficult to defend against.
Although linen-backed this poster has had NO over-painted restoration. Apart from old pin-holes to corners, light rim marking & some writing to the reverse of the upper left white rim (unobtrusive), the poster remains in very good condition.
NB. Due to the value of this item a supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers (O).
