Birth Of The Blues Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the historical adventure "Birth Of The Blues" (1941).

Although the film was released in 1941 the reference to Mary Martin & "South Pacific" dates this to a c' 1950-51 release (Mary Martin starred in the original Broadway musical of "South Pacific" in 1949). Few colour Quads were printed during WWII so it is likely that this is the earliest colour Quad for this 1941 film. Although this is a particularly colourful poster, like many film posters of this vintage, the film it was portraying was actually shown in black & white. The film won the "Best Music" Oscar.

Poster folded with some pin-holes to corners & light stains to rim etc but the colours remain bold & vibrant (no "Photoshop" used).
