Children Of The Damned Poster

Rare UK Quad cinema poster for the "X"-rated British scifi-horror film "Children Of The Damned" (1964).

Starring the likes of Ian Hendry & Barbara Ferris, this was a sequel to the equally well regarded & collectable "Village Of The Damned" (1960). The film was set & filmed in London with lots of interesting b/w footage of London at the time.

This poster is rarely seen in the market. In the past 23 years we can find just three examples to have sold via Heritage & emovie, the last of these being eight years ago. In the US the poster incorporated the headline, "Beware The Eyes That Paralyze". This feature is reflected in the Quad design with the children all having striking red eyes. Interestingly the child in the centre has had lenticular eyes added which creates a very spooky effect. Lenticular movie advertising products became available in the late 1950's so it is possible that this poster was customised at the time by an enterprising cinema manager (it is interesting to note that the Heritage auction poster sold in 2009 also seems to have had similar lenticular eyes).

Poster folded, subsequently rolled & with several pin-holes to corners but as can be seen this poster displays to excellent & very eerie effect!
