Dad's Army

Original Vic Fair concept design (13"x 18 7/8" "unfolded") for the UK Double-Crown "Teaser" poster for "Dad's Army" (1971), this being the film spin-off from the hugely successful TV series (1968-77). The design is typically provocative & it is not known if this bawdy concept ever made it into print. The design is made so that the poster could be displayed upside down, with English text uppermost one way & German text the other.

The design consists of a photograph of the artwork mock-up which has been laid to board with a card mount surround. A smaller photographic version has been affixed to the inside of the paper overlay as shown. A fascinating piece of early original Dad's Army memorabilia & a piece which epitomises Fair's creative genius & tongue-in-cheek approach to his work.
