Although the film was panned by the critics upon release it became a surprise hit & was rewarded with four Oscar nominations winning the Oscar for "Best Song". The film marked the first collaboration between Producers Jerry Bruckheimer & Don Simpson who later helmed "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984) & "Top Gun" (1986).
