Judgment Deferred Poster

Scarce UK Quad cinema poster for the Group 3 Films crime thriller "Judgment Deferred" (1952).

As explained in Sim Branaghan's book "British Film Posters" (2006), Group 3 was a studio set up in 1951 to utilise the Eady Levy (a charge on box office receipts designed to support the British film industry) & aimed to train young production staff working on low budget productions. Michael Balcon (Ealing Studios) was involved & a mix of earnest subjects & more light-hearted comedy films ensued (untill 1955 when the Studios closed). The Ealing Studios connection is reflected in the fact that Group 3 Quad posters were of a very high standard, often painted by artists from the Ealing "stable". "Judgment Deferred" was the first film Group 3 released. It was noteworthy too for featuring Joan Collins in her first credited big screen role! (we currently have posters for several other Group 3 releases including https://www.moviepostermem.com/Brandy-For-The-Parson-Poster/61591 & https://www.moviepostermem.com/Time-Gentlemen-Please-Poster/61612)

The poster design is idiosyncratic in its depiction of the disparate group who band together to help one of their number who is framed. The identity of the poster artist is unknown though it is possible that one of the Ealing poster illustrators was responsible (possibly Edward Ardizzone or Edward Bawden)

Poster in rare unfolded form & in superb condition too. A rare early 1950's British Quad offering some brilliant & very distinctive artwork.

NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers.
