La Dolce Vita Poster

UK Quad linen-backed cinema poster for the Federico Fellini masterpiece "La Dolce Vita" (1960), this being a rare UK first release poster & not one of the more common/inferior re-releases.

The magnificently vibrant & colourful design resonates with the seven day exploration of Rome's highlife at the time. The film explored themes of popular culture, mass media, Press intrusion (the term "paparazzi" originated from the film) & consumerism vs spiritual decline. The critical & commercial success of "La Dolce Vita" brought Fellini, Marcello Mastroianni & Anita Ekberg to global prominence.

As an indication of rarity, Heritage Auctions have only ever sold on of these first release Quads (back in 2008) & emovieposter have never had one for sale. Italian 4-Foglio posters for this film retail for significant sums (at the time of listing a London gallery was offering one for £35K+).

Poster originally folded but now linen-backed. The poster was in excellent condition prior to backing & required minimal restoration (a couple of tiny touch-ins to crossfolds only). It remains in 99.9% original condition. A true statement piece.
