This fast-paced British crime-comedy was a commercial success. Ritchie assembled an eclectic cast of celebs (Sting, Vinnie Jones), seasoned actors (Vera Day), an assortment of relative unknowns who would later come to prominence (Jason Statham, Jason Flemyng, Rob Brydon) & a real ex-gangster in the form of Lenny McLean. The critical plaudit links the film to "The Long Good Friday", "Reservoir Dogs" & "The Italian Job", august company but fully deserved.
