Lucky Strike
Six Vic Fair concept designs (all 8"x 14" approx) for "Lucky Strike" cigarettes, these thought to have been created after British American Tobacco (BAT) acquired the company in 1976 (the annotation on one suggests these designs were for a series of large billboard posters).
Each design is a copy of Fair's original pen/ink & pencil designs, each being a take on being "lucky" (being "up the creek without a paddle" but with a reclining lady beckoning, or posing nonchalantly against a bullet ridden car etc). We do not know if these were ever put into print but the six different designs are testament to the artist's fertile imagination & sense of humour. The designs have been placed on white card for photography but all are loose. The artist clearly rated this work as these were all retained in a private portfolio of his. These are the only copies we know to exist & none of the original artwork is believed to have survived.
