Moomin Poster

Four scarce original 1956 high production quality "Moomin" prints. These prints were created to promote the first Moomin spin-off commercial products (Moomin candles) which were sold exclusively through the luxury department stores, Stockmann in Helsinki & NK in Stockholm. Each print is hand numbered & mounted (4 1/4" x 5 7/8") & shows a different Moomin character (Moomintroll & Little My, Snufkin, Snorkmaiden & Sniff - these 4 characters only were printed).

The Moomin characters were devised & illustrated by the Finnish-Swedish novelist, Tove Jansson (books being published 1947-77, films released 1969-2017 & a TV series broadcast in the UK 1983-88). A new TV series featuring the likes of Kate Winslett, Rosamund Pike & Warwick Davies followed in 2019, this being directed by Steve Box, the Oscar winning director of "Wallace & Gromit" fame.

A limited number of these original prints were recently discovered & have been restored & released to the public. The prints are all pictured in their protective plastic sleeves with envelopes to the reverse. These prints are exhibited in various toy & cartoon museums across the globe & remain in excellent condition. A wonderful example of classic Nordic culture.

For an idea of relative value on 11th Dec 2022 Bonhams-Cornette Auctions in Brussels sold a similar Moomin set for Euros 520 (ie £450).

NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers.
