Paper Tiger

Original Vic Fair painted concept artwork (22"x 32") for the UK Quad poster for the British action-adventure film "Paper Tiger" (1975).

Starring David Niven, Toshiro Mifune & Hardy Kruger this "Boys Own" romp was filmed in Malaysia. This cartoon style prototype was one of two Fair created (see the other example here: https://www.moviepostermem.com/Paper-Tiger-Poster/60217), both playing on the humour in the film. The eventual printed Quad by Putzu (see image attached) showed a more serious development. Interesting to see how much work went into getting the advertising materials just right!

This is a typical Vic Fair artwork, the painting being on thin paper applied to board. Several additional painted pieces have been superimposed onto the base composition. The entire composition consists of painted colour washes & pen & ink drawing.
