Poor Cow Poster
Fascinating customised UK Quad Style-B cinema poster for the classic Ken Loach film "Poor Cow" (1967).
This gritty piece of British social realism starred Terence stamp & Carol White as the single mother trying to make a living against the odds. Chantrell provided several great concept pieces of artwork (these can be seen on https://www.chantrellposter.com/) & was responsible for the Style-A Quad (shown for reference). This photo montage, however, was the work of fellow Allardyce-Palmer artist, Ray Youngs (also known for his Style-B Quads for "Cleopatra" & "Carry On Cleo" etc). His choice of the first photo top left was also used by Chantrell in his Quad design. Both Quads for "Poor Cow" are scarce but the Style-B Quad here is the scarcer of the two & rarely available in the market.
This poster is folded as issued & has an additional cinema named sticker to the upper but has not been trimmed. The sticker shows the poster was used by the Royalty Theatre, Windermere (still in existence we believe). The poster has several small tape stains, tears & a couple of small areas of paper loss to the rim etc. The poster is not in perfect condition but it is rare & still presents to excellent effect.
