Royal Flash

Chantrell finished painted artwork (22"x 29") for the Quad cinema poster for "Royal Flash" (1975). This artwork originally came from the Chantrell collection & written provenance to this effect will be provided.

This historical romp starred the likes of Malcolm McDowell, Alan Bates, Britt Ekland, Oliver Reed etc. Chantrell brings his artistry, design flair & sense of humour to the composition. The film title is depicted in Chantrell's favoured day-glo & the mini portraits of the leading cast are particularly good. Of particular note also are Chantrell's numerous annotations & instructions to the printers. An interesting note to the cover sheet seems to indicate the numbers of trimmed posters required by the London Transport Executive & Brtish Transport Advertising. The artwork is complete but for a small portion of printed credits text which is missing. The artwork consists of gouache applied to "Legion" artboard with cut-out painted portraits which have been overlaid & strips of printed text credits. There are several paper cover sheets.
