Star Wars Poster

Scarce UK Quad "Pre-Oscars" linen-backed cinema poster for "Star Wars" (1977) with iconic poster illustration by Tom Chantrell.

For the UK release of "Star Wars" Producer Gary Kurtz wanted a poster design that emphasised the "characters" in the film. The commission was put out to tender & Chantrell won with this design. The initial "Pre-Oscars" version of the poster was used for the early release of the film, being superseded with a second version which carries Oscars text in the bottom right void. Poster now linen-backed but was originally folded. Prior to backing the poster was in very good condition with a small blu-tack stain from reverse (mid-left rim at the tip of the light sabre blast) slight creasing/fraying bottom right rim & very minor foldline wear lower right area. The poster has had minimal restoration (just some very light touch-ins to foldline wear lower right) ie, it remains in 99% original condition with none of the over-painting that often accompanies similar linen-backed posters. (NB. In order to give the most accurate impression of the poster NO Photoshop enhancemement has been used & interested purchasers are welcome to arrange an appointment to view "in the flesh").
