The Fast Lady

Rare original painted artwork (23"x 32") by Renato Fratini for the Quad poster for the British comedy "The Fast Lady" (1962).

Fratini poster artwork is rarely seen in the market (his book jacket artwork is far more common) & this is a particularly large piece. The artwork depicts the main characters (James Robertson Justice, Leslie Phillips, Stanley Baxter & Julie Christie) & the "Fast Lady" herself, this a 1927 Bentley 3-Litre Speed Open Tourer in racing green! This wonderful car was depicted in the film in a dream race sequence filmed at Goodwood & was subsequently sold by Fiskens for £550,000 in 2010. This film marked Julie Christie's Big Screen "breakthrough" (she is shown driving a Mini Cooper in the film). This artwork was acquired by Stanley Baxter after filming.

Artwork consists of pieces of painted card illustration affixed to underlying "Colyer & Southey" artboard with the addition of various printed text strips. Partial edge lifting of card additions but all intact & could easily be re-affixed. Slight sun fading to Leslie Phillip's face and to Julie Christie's pink dress but otherwiise colours bold & clear.
