The Getaway Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for Steve McQueen thriller "The Getaway" (1972), this for the 1979 re-release with Arnaldo Putzu illustration.

This is a rare example of a re-release poster being worth more than the original release poster (the converse is usually the case). The reason is obvious when one compares Putzu's colourful re-release with the somewhat drab original (image shown for reference). The original illustration was based on a publicity still from the film but the lack of colour is a major drawback. Putzu, however, delivers a composition for this re-release which is dynamic, bold & vibrant (a far better marketing tool & consequently a more collectable poster).

Poster folded as issued & in excellent un-restored condition. There is an original print fault to the right side with a very faint blue mark running from the top but this is hardly noticeable.
