The Jealous God Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the British drama set in 1960's Yorkshire, "The Jealous God" (2005) with poster artwork by the renowned US artist Basil Gogos.

By 2005 almost 100% of British Quads were produced based on photographic design but for this specific poster the vintage painted style was resurrected. The choice of artist was surprising as Basil Gogos was known for his work in the horror genre, particularly for the magazine "Famous Monsters of Filmland" (please see this excellent article: https://itcamefromblog.com/2017/09/15/basil-gogos-the-passing-of-a-monster-art-legend/). Although way outside the world of horror, Gogos delivers a sumptuous piece of poster illustration for "The Jealous God". It is unsurprising that this talented artist diversified from commercial art & established himself as a successful fine artist in the 1970's-80's. This poster provides a great memento of a little-known, low-budget but well regarded British film, with bags of interest from the world of Hollywood horror too!
