The Long Good Friday Poster

Scarce UK 1-Sheet linen-backed cinema poster for the classic British gangster film "The Long Good Friday" (1980) with Ron Fenton artwork.

One of our favourite films & with bags of interest: Bob Hoskins "breakthrough" role, historic footage of old London Docklands, the cinema debut of future Bond, Pierce Brosnan, sparky London dialogue, a groovy 80's soundtrack by Francis Monkman (ex-Curved Air & Sky), the lovely Helen Mirren, George Harrison the saviour of the film & a host of other familiar names such as Dexter Fletcher, PH Moriarty, Karl Howman ("Brushstrokes"), Brian Hall, Alan Ford ("Snatch"), Paul Barber ("The Full Monty"), Gillian Taylforth etc.

This colourful 1-Sheet provides a superb montage of characters & action scenes from the film. Commercial artist Ron Fenton was not a prolific cinema poster artist but also created the UK 1-Sheet for the crime thriller "Nighthawks" (1981) & artwork for the Australian Daybill for "Scarface" (1983) too.

This scarce poster is not often seen in the market. This example has been linen-backed. Prior to backing the poster had pin-holes to corners & minor foldline wear. Minimal restoration has been undertaken & this is NOT a poster which has been effectively re-painted. A real find & a classic piece of British gangster cinema!
