The Reluctant Virgin

Original Chantrell concept artwork (16"x 21") for the unmade Hammer film "The Reluctant Virgin" (1967). This was one of a number of Hammer projects which never fully came to fruition (the film had earlier been drafted as "The Bride Of Newgate Jail") but frequently during the period 1965-71, Chantrell was used by Hammer to connjure up attractive artwork to be used in selling pitches to secure finance.

Very little Hammer poster artwork has survived. In 2018 Chantrell's finished artwork for "Dracula AD 1972" sold for £12,300 (inc. premium) (https://propstoreauction.com/view-
auctions/catalog/id/128/lot/26099/
). This "Reluctant Virgin" art thus represents a near unique opportunity to acquire a
piece of original Hammer painted artwork.

The artwork consists of gouache on card with hand-cut day-glo lettering all affixed to "Fashion Plate" artboard. Chantrell
was obviously happy with this composition as he signed it & had it framed hanging in his home.

NB. Due to the size/weight of this item, a separate shipping charge will be required though collection is possible. The
artwork will be removed from the frame prior to shipping.
