The Sound Of Music Poster

UK Quad linen-backed cinema poster for one of the most famous musicals of all time "The Sound Of Music" (1965).

This was a true "blockbuster" garnering a total of ten Oscar nominations, winning five including "Best Picture". The poster illustration was by Howard Terpning, the Quad re-formatting Terpning's artwork from the American poster campaign. This is a poster that has become increasingly difficult to find in recent years & this example is the first release version (not one of the subsequent re-releases that sometimes are presented as first release posters).

Prior to linen-backing the poster was lightly folded with several old tape stains to the rim. The poster has now been linen-backed & the rim stains treated & minimised. The poster now displays to very good effect. For an idea of relative value, at the time of listing a similar poster was on offer in a London gallery for £1,675.
