The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Poster

UK Quad linen-backed cinema poster for the controversial horror film "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974).

With lashings of gruesome intent & prolonged terror "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was extremely challenging for the BBFC who repeatedly refused to award the film an "X" rating. At one point, the head of the BBFC James Ferman referred to the film as a "pornography of terror". In 1975, however, the Greater London Council granted the film an "X" certificate on the back of 28 sceconds of cuts. Given the notoriety of the film only a small print run of London "X" certificate posters were printed (& an even smaller number of Local "X" certificate posters for the provinces).

Poster once folded but now linen-backed. Prior to backing the poster had some minor edge nicks/fraying etc & a tiny piece of paper loss to bottom/top right corners (these issues now rectified). The poster required no restoration other than the missing corner infills & displays to excellent effect as shown.
