The Thomas Crown Affair Poster
UK Quad linen-backed cinema poster for the Steve McQueen-Faye Dunaway thriller, "The Thomas Cown Affair" (1968) with poster illustration by Arnaldo Putzu.
If you're a Steve McQueen fan this is one of THE Steve McQueen posters to have. McQueen's starring role added to his reputation as "The King of Cool". "The Thomas Crown Affair" was a commercial & critical success upon release in 1968, featuring not only McQueen but also Faye Dunaway, like McQueen at the peak of her career. The UK release required something special & London based Italian artist, Arnaldo Putzu, certainly delivered, the clashing colours echoing contemporary 1960's Pop-Art influences. The Putzu illustration was based on a design by fellow artist John Stockle (for more information, please see Sim Branaghan's book "British Film Posters" (2006).
"Thomas Crown Affair" posters are collectable from across the globe, the stylish US 1-sheet & the Japanese posters being particularly so. However, the UK Quad is the hardest poster type to find for this title, the American equivalents being relatively ubiquitous.
Poster orginally folded & in very good condition (with some minor creasing, a couple of pin-holes left corner area & a 1 1/1/2" tear lower right rim). Poster now linen-backled, with minor restoration only (this is NOT a linen-backed poster that has been effectively re-painted) & displays to excellent effect. NB. This poster will NOT be discounted.
NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers.
