Big Wednesday Poster
UK Quad cinema poster for the surfing classic "Big Wednesday" (1978).
"Big Wednesday" is the film that most accurately depicts surfing culture. Though a drama rather than a documentary, the film faithfully represents 1960's surfers, their obsession with the big wave & the ambience of a surfers lifestyle. The film is set against the backdrop of the Vietnam war which also adds poignancy.
Released in 1978, "Big Wednesday" was not a big budget film (costing just $11m). The surfing market & interest in surfing in the UK at the time was nascent only (certainly, no where near as established as in America). "Big Wednesday" thus had a niche appeal & the distribution of the film was modest only. Consequently, the Quad poster for "Big Wednesday" is genuinely scarce.
Poster folded & in excellent condition. There is writing to the reverse of lower left area but this does NOT show through.
