Carrie Poster

Scarce UK Quad poster for a special one-time viewing of "Carrie" (1976) at the famous Duke Of York's cinema in Brighton on 1st Nov 2013.

The Duke of York's is one of the oldest cinemas in the world (opened in 1910) & the oldest cinema still operating (pre-Covid) in Britain. The Carrie screening was accompanied with a Carrie themed event including cabaret, circus acts & music. This poster was specially printed for the event (similar to the Mondo-like commissions in the US) & would have been printed in small quantities only hence the scarcity. The poster incorporates a blood dripping motif at the top & a series of floating balloons (it was a blood-filled balloon which was dumped on Carrie at the climax) in the design.

"Carrie" was one of THE films to see in '76 & received critical acclaim, both Sissy Spacek & Piper Laurie receiving Oscar nominations.

Poster single-sided, rolled & in excellent condition. A scarce memento of an excellent film & an iconic venue of real historical significance.
