Colonel Sun Poster

A book promo poster(20"x 30") for the first official James Bond novel released after Ian Fleming's death in 1964, this being for "Colonel Sun" (1968). The book was published by Jonathan Cape & written by Robert Markham (a psuedonym for author Kingsley Amis). Although the book has not ben made into a film, various elements have been "borrowed" for subsequent James Bond films (ie, the torture scene in "Spectre").

The poster features artwork adapted from the first edition book cover by artist Tom Adams (see image below) and is clearly Salvador Dali-esque. Adams was principally a book illustrator & famous for his dust-jacket designs for the Agatha Christie novels too. It is believed that the poster dates c'1968-69 as subsequent re-prints of "Colonel Sun" have featured radically different book cover designs.

A fascinating & visually striking piece of James Bond memorabilia. The poster remains in excellent condition.
