Hercules Unchained Poster

An interesting original b/w photo (6 1/2"x 8 1/4") showing a Grimsby cinema manager presenting a bike as a prize in a competition (1959).

To the reverse is the text "Presentation Of Hercules Cycle To Winner Of Painting Contest", this a tie-in with the film "Hercules Unchained" (1959). In the background of the photo is an ABC Quad for "Gazebo" (1959). The photo highlights the entrepreneurship of many cinema managers in the 1950's-60's who would often stage competitions & work with local businesses to promote paricular films. It is quite likely that this photo was destined for use in the local Grimsby newspaper. A lovely little piece of British cinema history!
