Highway Pickup Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the Gala Studios release of "Highway Pickup" (1963).

This French crime-drama had echoes of "The Postman Always Rings Twice" & the poster illustration makes the sexual undertones clear. Kenneth Rive's Gala Studios was one of several independent distributors who specialised in re-cycling European made films, especially those of an erotic nature. Freelance artist John Payne illustrated many Gala releases & this poster is probably one of his, though this one is unsigned. The print run for this attractive poster would have been small & indeed this is a Quad that is hard to find in the market.
