In The Heat Of The Night Poster

Original 16-page PROGRAMME (NOT a poster) & complete ticket for the 40th Oscars ceremony, at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, California, 10th April 1968.

"Bonnie and Clyde", "The Graduate" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" were nominated for the "big" five Oscars ("Best Picture","Actor", "Actress", "Director" & "Screenplay" but "In The Heat of The Night" (1967) won "Best Picture" & "Best Actor" (Rod Steiger), with "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" winning "Best Actress" (Katharine Hepburn) & "Screenplay" & Mike Nichols won the Oscar for "Best Director". The Oscars were postponed for two days following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King so it was poignant that "In The Heat of The Night" & "Guess Whose Coming To Dinner" did so well as both films starred the black actor Sidney Poitier & both films covered issues of race which were enormously topical given the Civil Rights movement at the time.

Among those performing at this Oscars were Grace Kelly, Katharine Hepburn, Olivia de Havilland, Anne Bancrot, Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr, Angela Lansbury etc.

Programme with an embossed "Oscar", with minor cover wear/marks & overall in very good condition (ticket in excellent condition).
