Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom

Five Vic Fair concept artworks (16"x 22" overall) for "Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom" (1984)

These are obviously very preliminary sketches but all feature the famous bullwhip & one carries the header text "He's Back". There is no other "Indiana Jones" material in the Vic Fair collection so it is something of a mystery as to what these designs are. The final Quad (image attached courtesy of emovieposter) was by fellow British artist Mike Vaughan. It is possible that Fair further developed these concepts & that the Vaughan illustrated a Vic Fair design as Fair was frequently used to create designs which were illustrated by other artists (Brian Bysouth being a notable example). Irrespective, these items represent a fascinating addition to the canon of "Indiana Jones" memorabilia.

The bottom three artworks are appended directly onto the large sheet of paper whilst the upper two are on separate pieces of paper which have been stapled & stuck on with tape. The artworks are a mix of pen/ink & felt-tip. The artist clearly rated this work as these were all retained in a private portfolio of his.
