Oblomov Poster

A scarce Russian poster (30"x 45 1/4") for "A Few Day's Of II Oblomov's Life" (1980). Published by Sovexportfilm for distribution in English-speaking territories, this highly regarded film was a gentle period drama with comic overtones. The wistful nature of the film is captured by the glorious poster design by Igor Pavlovich Lemeshev. The illustration details the 19th century period setting but the composition also has a vaguely surrealistic air. An impressive piece of poster artwork & a scarce poster as this film was not widely shown in the UK.

The poster has two horizontal fold-lines & two lighter vertical folds. There is slight creasing & a 1/2" conservation repair to left hand edge but overall the poster presents in excellent condition. An interesting piece of Soviet era cinema memorabilia.
