On The Waterfront Poster

UK Quad linen-backed cinema poster for the classic Marlon Brando film "On The Waterfront" (1954).

Directed by Elia Kazan, the film pitched Brando as a tough but sensitive longshoreman & delivered one of the most memorable lines from 20th century cinema: "I could'a been a contender"! A mixture of on-location filming & an early use of "method acting" distinguished the movie & emphasised its sense of gritty realism. The film was a great success with twelve Oscar nominations & won a staggering eight Oscars, including "Best Actor" for Brando, Best Director (Kazan), Best Supporting Actress (Eva Marie Saint) etc. This is a scarce Quad title & not often seen in the market.

Poster once folded & now linen-backed. Prior to restoration the poster had foldline wear, tack-holes to corners etc. Poster with airbrush restoration to the outer white rim & some touch-ins to folds but the vast bulk of the poster including key imagery, remains un-restored. Please note that this is the rare first release poster & not one of the subsequent reduced artwork re-releases.

NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers (O).
