Our Girl Friday Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the British comedy "Our Girl Friday" (1953) starring Kenneth More, Joan Collins, George Cole & Robertson Hare.

The film was based on the premise of a rich socialite (Ms Collins) being marooned on a desert island with three men. The period 1952-53 was a "breakthrough" period for Joan Collins, seeing her appear in no less than eight films & graduating to lead status as here. The cast included other stalwarts from the British acting profession including Hermione Gingold, Hattie Jacques & Peter Sellers (as the voice of a parrot - seen on the poster). As an example of good contemporary marketing the poster references Kenneth More's recent smash hit "Genevieve".

This is a silkscreen poster & would have had a small rint run. Although we have found no image of the first release Quad we believe the poster here would have been produced for the first re-release c' 1954-56.

Poster folded with various wear & tear including paper loss to crossfolds, pin-holes to corners edge tears (conservation tape repaired - longest 4"), paper loss lower mid-rim etc. Nonetheless this is a scarce British comedy poster & an early Joan Collins piece.
