UK Quad linen-backed cinema poster for the scifi-comedy film "Rocket To The Moon" (1967) with poster illustration by Tom Chantrell.

Starring Terry-Thomas, Lionel Jeffries, Burt Ives, Gert Frobe, Daliah Lavi, Troy Donahue etc, this was a comedy romp based on the Jules Verne novel. The multinational cast reflected the different sources of finance that funded the film. Filmed mostly in Ireland, "Rocket To The Moon" was one of a slew of Jules Verne inspired films released in the 1950's-60's, notable others including "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" (1954), "Around The World In 80 Days" (1956), "Journey To The Centre of the Earth" (1959) & " In Search Of The Castaways" (1962).

This is a typical piece of Chantrell poster illustration, the faces of the main cast members beautifully illustrated, the film title given particular prominence in the composition & Chantrell's favoured use of day-glo demonstrated in abundance (ever the consummate commercial artist, Chantrell adds the shapely legs of Ms Lavi for extra attraction too). Poster once folded but now linen-backed with several pin-holes to corners & few very light marks but overall excellent display condition. Not a British comedy poster that comes up often in the market & an excellent example of Chantrell's artistry (O).
