Secret People Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the Ealing Studios crime-drama "Secret People" (1952) the poster designed by the great SJ Woods & the film co-starring a very young Audrey Hepburn.

SJ Woods was the poster design genius at Ealing Studios, creating classy poster designs such as this & also (as head of advertising at Ealing) drafting in a range of highly regarded graphic designers to work on other Ealing poster projects. "Secret People" was a vitally important film for the young Ms Hepburn. After several minor film parts (often un-credited) "Secret People" provided Hepburn with her most substantial part to date & a co-starring credit on the poster. Aware that William Wyler was preparing "Roman Holiday", "Secret People" director Thorold Dickinson sent a screen test of Hepburn to Wyler. Wyler was impressed with what he saw & replied to Dickinson "as a result of the test, a number of the producers at Paramount have expressed interest in casting her.".....therest being history!

Poster rolled with three light vertical foldlines only, a few minor edge nicks but overall in superb condition for a poster that is now over 70 years old. A fascinating early an important piece of Audrey Hepburn memorabilia.
