The Entertainer Poster

Original double-sided flyer (6"x 8") for the John Osborne play "The Entertainer" (1957) starring Laurence Olivier, at the Palace Theatre, London.

Launched at the Royal Court Theatre in April 1957 the play ran for four weeks before transferring to the Palace Theatre, London for an eight week run in Sept 1957. Osborne's earlier play "Look Back In Anger" was controversial, examining British youth angst whilst "The Entertainer" looked at the psychological malaise of an older generation. The play co-starred Joan Plowright who later married Olivier. "The Entertainer" was directed by Tony Richardson who also directed the Big Screen version (which also starred Olivier & Plowright) & was released in 1960.

Flyer with creasing & several edge nicks etc but an important piece of British theatrical memorabilia.
