The Winters Tale Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the Shakespearian "lusty tragi-comedy", "The Winter's Tale" (1967) the poster coming from the personal collection of the artist responsible for the illustration, Tom Beauvais (a signed letter of authenticity will accompany this piece).

Starring Laurence Harvey & Jane Asher this high-brow film appears to have been little seen as this Quad is extremely scarce. Also in the cast were the likes of Jim Dale & Tom Baker.

Tom Beauvais worked closely with Tom Chantrell at the Allardyce ad agency before setting up his own business, "Chapman-Beauvais" in 1975. Among the vast roster of posters Beauvais created were "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid (1969), "Fantastic Voyage" (1966), Mad Max (1979) & Zombie Flesh Eaters" (1980).

Poster folded with old tape to bottom & right side rims, paper loss to upper left & bottom right corners, light marks, edge tears etc. Of particular note, there was a small area of paper loss to the central area & Tom Beauvais has not only attempted an amateur restoration here but added painted touch-ins to Jane Asher's nose & the facial image & crown just below etc which we've highlighted (this & the other posters we're selling from the Beauvais collection were previously affixed to polyboard for lectures which the artist gave early in his retirement). So, a scarce poster & a curious example of a printed poster actually featuring some painted artwork by the original artist too!
