The People That Time Forgot
Framed concept artwork (17"x 22" overall) for "The People That Time Forgot" (1977) by Maurice Carter. The illustration shows a design for a promotional display mounted on the back of a flat-backed truck & featured a "volcano", "aircraft", "monster" & "ship", all with suitable special effects. This would have made a stunning mobile display & would have resonated nicely with Chantrell's fabulous Quad poster illustration for the film:
https://www.moviepostermem.com/The-People-That-Time-Forgot-Poster/60615. The idea presumably was for this vehicle to drive around to whip up custom for the local cinema & was probably designed for the West End & bigger metropolitan venues.
Maurice Carter was the Production Designer for all three of the films in the series: "The Land That Time Forgot" (1975), "At The Earth's Core" (1976) & "The People That Time Forgot". Carter enjoyed a long career in the film industry starting in the 1930's. He was highly regarded for his work being
twice Oscar nominated (for "Becket" 1964 & "Anne Of A Thousand Days" 1969). Cater's last role before retirement was as Art Director for "North Sea Hijack" (1980).
A rare piece of British cinema advertising artwork. This item was professionally mounted & framed though the glazing is no longer present. There are several light surface marks but the artwork is still in
very good condition. Carter has signed his name bottom right.
