The Sweet Ride Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the American teen drama starring Jacqueline Bisset "The Sweet Ride" (1968) with poster artwork by Tom Beauvais etc, the poster coming from the private collection of the artist.

Tom Beauvais worked closely with Tom Chantrell at the Allardyce ad agency before setting up his own business, "Chapman-Beauvais" in 1975. Among the vast roster of posters Beauvais created were "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid (1969), "Fantastic Voyage" (1966), Mad Max (1979) & Zombie Flesh Eaters" (1980).

This was one of Ms Bisset's earliest films but catapulted her to stardom as her very next was "Bullitt" (1968) starring alongside Steve McQueen. Beauvais provided the artwork of the actress (the reference stills provided didn't show her legs so he had to improvise).

This poster is distressed but still presents very well. It has a 15" conservation tape repair to the right mid-horizontal foldline, there are a few edge nicks & a piece of tape to the upper left rim. Poster once folded but now rolled. The artist has signed the poster twice: to the bottom right corner area in pen & also to the reverse in pencil.
