The Thing Poster

UK Quad cinema poster for the John Carpenter horror-scifi classic "The Thing" (1982).

The artist, Les Edwards was not a particularly prolific poster artist, being better known for his horror-fantasy book cover designs. However, this is a great piece of intricate artwork, ably creating a sense of foreboding that sets the tone for the film. Edwards original design included a more rugged foreground but scifi illustrator Jim Burns was brought in to "soften" this, as the poster subsequently shows. Poster folded & in excellent condition (the tiny mark on the upper rim is not a tear but an original & very minor print fault).
