The World Ten Times Over Poster
UK Quad poster for the British drama "The World Ten Times Over" (1963).
This is a fascinating poster for several reasons. First it's a great example of a Chantrell poster in which the artist uses coloured photographic shots in the composition rather than his usual painted illustrations. Secondly it has been claimed by the BFI to be the first British film to reference a lesbian relationship (the film stars both Sylvia Syms & June Ritchie as nightclub hostesses). Thirdly, the film has some great footage of early 60's London & seedy Soho. It also co-starred William Hartnell just prior to his time as TV's "Dr Who" (1963-73) & if that wasn't enough, a very young Donald Sutherland features in one of his very first (uncredited) film appearances.
The poster has foldline wear, pin-holes to corners, fraying to upper right rim etc but still displays well. The UK 1-Sheet for this poster is relatively common but this Chantrell Quad is rare.
