They Were Not Divided Poster
Rare UK Quad linen-backed Premiere cinema poster for the WWII film "They Were Not Divided" (1950) with poster design & artwork by Eric Pulford.
A fabulous early Pulford work, the poster also bearing the artist's name. Pulford's poster design combines vignettes of realism contrasting with the central image, the clear lines & bold use of geometric shapes which "scream" mid-century Modernism. A real tour-de-force of cinema poster design.
The film was about the exploits of the Guards Armoured Division in WWII & was directed by future James Bond director Terence Young (Dr No", "From Russia With Love" & "Thunderball") who had been a Guards officer during the war. Future Bond "Q", Desmond Llewelyn also co-starred as did later Hammer stalwart, Christiopher Lee too.
This Quad is rare, particularly since, as the header indicates, this poster was used for the film's Premiere which took place at the Leicester Square Theatre, London on 29th March 1950.
Poster originally folded but now linen-backed. Prior to backing the poster had some pin-holes, foldline wear & some surface scuffs. There has been minimal restoration with a few foldline touch-ins etc but this is NOT a linen-backed poster that has been virtually re-painted. Poster in very good condition.
NB. A supplementary P&P charge will be required for overseas buyers.
